Networks and Community

Every day, HUB facilitates meaningful connections within our community that allow our members to uncover new ideas and insights, opportunities to collaborate, and innovative ways of working. Creating a sense of belonging and the conditions for our vibrant community to connect, learn and incubate is what the HUB is all about.

In Canada’s community sector, business as usual isn’t enough to deliver the results we need. Innoweave is a national, multi-funder initiative of The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation that provides nonprofits and community organizations with support and coaching to implement new tools and processes to effect large-scale change. Recognizing that incorporating social innovation approaches can help many organizations to increase their impact, Innoweave focuses on spreading practical tools for social innovation across the not-for-profit sector.

“Impact Hub helps our distributed team (with staff members in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal) connect on a regular basis for in-person meetings and strategy sessions. It provides us with space, inspiration, and connections to other community sector organizations, which helps us advance our mandate of spreading social innovation across Canada’s nonprofit and community sector.”

“The trajectory of the social innovation movement in Ottawa can be measured in terms of B.H. and A.H.: Before Hub and After Hub. Impact Hub Ottawa is the epicentre of ground-breaking innovation, inspired thought leadership, and meaningful action across the social change spectrum. They are a natural collaborator for the IMPACT! House of PainT

House of PainT is a block party and community BBQ that brings heads out into the sun to sit on the grass, listen to good tunes, eat tasty food and watch amazing artists and dancers in action. As a free event that started in 2003, House of PainT takes hip hop back to its roots – promoting community consciousness, political awareness and artistic development through art, dance, music and spoken word. As one of the first Impact Hub Ottawa & World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Ottawa Wave Makers microgrant recipients, House of PainT launched a ‘H2O: House of PainT to Oceans’ learning program in 2015, engaging in youth in graffiti-style visual art.

“Working out of the Hub has proven a great choice. From the staff to the other Hubbers, there’s always someone with something interesting popping up and potential for collaboration.”
